Dear Flint Hill Elementary School community,

It gives me great pleasure to announce that Eben Montaquila, current Assistant Principal at Vienna Elementary School, has been selected as the new Principal of Flint Hill Elementary School, effective July 1, 2022.

Mr. Montaquila is a highly motivated instructional leader who partners with parents and staff to support student success. As a leader, he motivates students to think critically and to make contributions to their community. He has experience in supporting students with special needs and students who are exceptional learners. Specifically, he researched the effectiveness of inclusive practices for special education students.

Mr. Montaquila started his career in education at Sunrise Valley Elementary School as a fifth-grade teacher and taught in the Advanced Academic Level IV Center. As a result of the relationships he built with parents and his caring nature with children, he was named the PTA Vice President of Faculty. In this role, Mr. Montaquila worked in close partnership with parents, teachers, and community members to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of the school community.    

In 2015, Mr. Montaquila became Assistant Principal at Vienna Elementary School. As a school-based administrator, Mr. Montaquila led the introduction and adoption of project-based learning and real-world learning experiences for students. In 2019, Vienna ES staff and families nominated Mr. Montaquila for an FCPS Outstanding Leader Award for his active commitment to supporting a positive and growth-oriented school culture. 

Mr. Montaquila earned his Bachelor of Arts in Education with a Minor in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He earned his Master of Education in School Leadership from Harvard University, and he was a Principal Intern at The Eliot K-8 Innovation School in Boston, Massachusetts.

Mr. Montaquila is energized and excited to meet and greet every Flint Hill Falcon. He looks forward to partnering with the Madison Pyramid Principals and the opportunities ahead to engage Flint Hill in exciting learning initiatives within the Town of Vienna.

Mr. Montaquila is a native of North Carolina and currently lives in Fairfax County with his wife and two children.
